THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY FOR PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

In 2024, the Scientific Technical Committee on Design (STC Dn) convened twice. The first meeting took place during the CIRP Winter Meeting in Paris on February 23rd, followed by another meeting during the CIRP General Assembly (GA) in Thessaloniki on August 22nd. These meetings were attended by 74 and 79 participants, respectively. In addition to these events, STC Dn members played active roles in various CIRP initiatives.

Collaborative Working Groups and CMAG

The STC Dn ambassadors to the CWGs provided regular reports, updates, and presentations.

•    CWG on Semiconductor and Microelectronic Manufacturing
•    CWG on Manufacturing for Sustainability
•    CWG on Ethics in Manufacturing

The representative of CMAG provided regular updates about CMAG activities.

STC Dn Strategic Positioning

•    The strategic development of STC Dn was an ongoing topic of discussion.
•    A roundtable discussion on the future of STC Dn took place during the Winter Meeting.
•    The quantity and quality of STC Dn papers published in CIRP Annals were continuously reviewed. The consensus emphasized the need to increase paper submissions and to boost engagement from active Fellows, Associate Members, Research Affiliates, and distinguished researchers outside CIRP.

Other Business

•    STC Dn officers held regular virtual meetings throughout the year.
•    The officers provided various services, such as paper sponsorship, aimed at increasing engagement within STC Dn.
•    The officers actively engaged in discussions with many CIRP colleagues.
