CIRP Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum for Undergraduate Students
Promoting manufacturing engineering research is one of the strategic missions of CIRP. It is also a pivotal task for CIRP to cultivate future manufacturing engineering talents to contribute to environmentally sustainable global prosperity and the well-being of society. The CIRP Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum developed in 2017 for Undergraduate Students has served as a reference and guide for universities worldwide planning to develop their own manufacturing curriculum.
In recognition of the urgent demand for digitalization of industry and future research and educational needs in digital manufacturing and engineering, sustainable manufacturing, additive manufacturing, nanomanufacturing, atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing, a new Manufacturing Engineering Task Force (METF) was initiated by our past President, Professor Fengzhou Fang and approved by the Council in September 2023 with a mission to update the 2017 CIRP Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum for Undergraduate Students and also to develop new Curriculums for Master Course Students as well.
The Task Force members include: W. Gao (Chair), N. Anwer (Vice Chair), X. Luo, D. Meyer, F. Tao, A. Clare, G. Tosello, F. Fang (Advisor).
The METF is now very pleased to present the 2024 CIRP curriculums for both Undergraduates and Master Courses (one year and two-year Master courses respectively) to the community. We believe the 2024 CIRP Curriculums will certainly further enhance the CIRP reputation and generate a significant impact on manufacturing education and development worldwide.
The METF is grateful to the support from the Council, CIRP members and volunteers who assisted through analysis of the survey results to the Manufacturing Engineering survey.
