In 2021, the Scientific Technical Committee Machines (STC “M”) had two meetings, one in online mode on February 28th and one during the virtual General Assembly on August 28th.

- Progress Report on STC-M Keynote Paper 2022 “Mechanical Interfaces in Machine Tools” by E. Budak (Sabanci University, Turkey)A status report was given. The text needs to be finalized by November 2021. A draft will be sent out in September to request comments from all colleagues.
- Progress Report on STC-M Keynote Paper 2023 “Sensor and Actuator Integrated Tooling Systems” by F. Bleicher (TU Wien, Austria) The keynote is making progress according to plan and schedule.
- Progress Report on STC-M Keynote Paper 2024 “Hybrid Additive/Subtractive Machines” by S. Smith (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA) The timeline and the draft of the outline were presented. Suggestions of papers to be considered are still welcome. 1/3 of the relevant papers have already been reviewed.
Possible topics for future keynote papers:
Christian Möhring suggests clamping of workpieces as a topic for a future keynote.
