What to do around La Mutualité

Visit the monuments / museums around in the district

- The Conciergerie and the beautiful Sainte Chapelle. (XIII Century). BEAUTIFUL: TO SEE ABSOLUTELY! Cross the bridge down Bd St Michel: entrance 2 Boulevard du Palais, on the "Ile de la Cité". Open from 9.30 to 17.00 (11,50 € each or 18 € for a combined visit). See Sainte Chapelle.  See Conciergerie.  Be careful, entrance is stopped 30 mn before the closing time.

- Le Pantheon. At the top of rue de la Montagne Sainte Geneviève. Place du Pantheon. Nice monument where lots of famous people are burried. Open from 10.00 to 18.00 (11,50 €). See le Pantheon. Be careful, entrance is stopped 45 mn before the closing time.

- Musée de   Cluny.   National Museum of Middle-Age.   Located in the gothic Hotel de Cluny, a beautiful little castle behind rue des Ecoles,  6 place Paul Painlevé (see map down their web page). Open from 9.30 to 17.45 (12 €). Closed on Monday.

- Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris and its towers. In the Ile de la Cité, just opposite the Seine river. Unfortunately, as you know, the monument is still closed for the time being.... Notre-Dame.

Sport Center: Swimming Pool - Fitness - Sauna - Squash

This sport centre has a very nice Art-Deco swimming pool, 19 rue de Pontoise, just nearby La Mutualité. It has been completely renovated and re-opened in January 2024.

Nice gardens around

- Les Arenes de Lutece. Gallo-Romain classified arenas (1st-2nd Century) just nearby la Mutualité, located N° 49 rue Monge. Free entrance open to public. Go and have a look! See Website.

- Les Jardins du Luxemblourg - several places to see: the Fontaine Medicis (old fountain), the Luxembourg Palace (where the French Senate is located), the Luxembourg Museum, the Orangerie, some very old trees from XIX century, bee hives...  At the top of Boulevard St Michel, just opposite the Pantheon. Free entrance in the gardens. See Website.

- Le Jardin des Plantes. Large garden with glasshouses, animals and botanical gardens. Take rue Monge up to rue Lacépède. Turn left in rue Lacépède and you arrive rue Geoffroy St Hilaire - go on the left side to N°36 where there is one of the entrances. Free entrance except for some buildings. See Website.

Go out for a drink late in the evening

- The well-known "Caveau de la Huchette" jazz club - where you can spend the whole evening listening to or dancing on very good lively jazz band concerts - Entrance 13-15 € per person (drinks are not included in the entrance price). 5 rue de la Huchette. Map of the itinerary.

- Friendly Corsican bar providing music and sausages/cheeses from Corsica: "20134", 11 rue de la Montagne Sainte Geneviève. Music bands on Thursday and Friday evening. Map of the itinerary.

- Irish-style Pub "O'Jason",  with music, 12 rue de la Huchette. Map of the itinerary.

- South African bar "La Pomme d'Eve" located in a beautiful gothic cellar from the XIIth Century, 1 rue Laplace (at the top of rue Montagne Sainte Geneviève). Map of the itinerary.

Go out for a walk around

- Walk in the historical streets behind the Pantheon - up to the well-known rue Mouffetard

- Walk all over Ile St Louis and Ile de la Cité (the two islands on the Seine), the heart of old Paris

- Walk near Place St Michel in the little streets nearby Quai St Michel: rue de la Huchette, rue de la Harpe, rue St Séverin, etc...

- Walk on the Boulevard St Germain up to Place de l'Odéon and stroll around the small streets up to St Germain des Prés. Very lively in the evening: rue de Seine, rue de Buci, etc...
