Time-Table and procedure for publishing in the CIRP Annals - Volume 1 - Papers

(be careful, deadlines are very strict: no paper accepted after the deadlines)

  • Nov. 15 - Deadline for submitting your Abstract on Elsevier Editorial System, directly through the CIRP website (Menu: Publications -> Submit a Paper to CIRP Annals). No certificate of sponsorship is requested at this stage, but the name of the sponsor must be given. Cooperative works between CIRP members should now be justified at the Abstract stage, with a request letter added to the Abstract explaining why this paper should be considered as a cooperative work.
  • Nov. 15-30 - Watch your emails: a first email will give you the reference number of your Abstract - please keep that same paper submission up to the end of the publication steps in April. A second email will confirm the acceptance of your Abstract by the end of November the latest.
  • January 20 - Deadline to submit the full Paper manuscript (follow the template online) on Elsevier Editorial System, with the Certificate of Sponsorship e-mailed by the sponsor directly to the CIRP Office if necessary. If the manuscript is more than 4 pages, a letter for requesting exceptionnaly 6 pages should be uploaded with the full paper.
    The paper will be reviewed by the STC Chair & Vice-Chair concerned, and by the Editorial Committee. No paper copies are requested any more.
  • Winter Meetings - Editorial Committee meeting and Joint Programme meeting with the STC Chairs to finalize the list of accepted papers. 
  • Winter Council Meeting - Final decision on the papers by the Council.
  • March 5 - Decision on the papers e-mailed to the Corresponding authors.
  • April 1st - Revised version of the papers re-submitted on Elsevier Editorial System and checked by the STC Chairs who should give their final approval.
  • April 10 - The CIRP Office gives the Publisher the approval to print the Papers in Volume 1. The Corresponding authors receive a final proof from Elsevier during the following weeks, as well as a copyright form to send back to Elsevier.
  • End of July  - Publication of Volume 1 (online on the CIRP site and on ScienceDirect and shipment of the printed version).


Time-Table and Procedure for publishing in the CIRP Annals - Volume 2 - Keynote Papers

Year N-1

  • The STC Chair (or his nominee in case of being author/co-author) acts as one of 3 reviewers - 2 reviewers will be nominated in November by the Editorial Committee (EC).
  • The outline paper is presented to the STC at the General Assembly.
  • The author(s) proceed to complete the paper, taking the comments of the STC into account.
  • 1st November - The Keynote paper must be submitted through EES (with a justification of the contributions of the proposed authors if more than four). The paper is reviewed by the STC Chair and the Editorial Committee prior to the Winter meetings, but the comments will be sent to authors after the Winter meetings, by March 5.


Year N

  • The final decision to present the Keynote Paper is taken at the Winter meetings.
  • 5 March - Comments from the STC Chair and Editorial Committee sent to the responsible author.
  • 15 April – Submission of the revised approved Keynote paper (R1) through EES.
  • 1st May – Comments from the STC Chair and Editorial Committee sent to the responsible author.
  • 20 May – Submission of the revised Keynote paper (R2) through EES.
  • 25 May - Final approval by the EC chair.
  • 28 May - PowerPoint presentation (for the GA) sent by email to the STC Chair for approval.
  • 28 May - The CIRP Office gives the Publisher the approval to print the Keynote Papers in Volume 2. The Corresponding authors receive a final proof from Elsevier during the following weeks, as well as a copyright form to send back to Elsevier.
  • Mid-August - Publication of Volume 2 (online on the CIRP site and on ScienceDirect).
  • Mid-September - Shipment of the printed version of Volume 2.
The Chairs of the STCs concerned are responsible for this Time-Table.
