Accomplishments

Professor Dieter Schmoeckel started his career in industry in the year 1965 at Daimler Benz AG, where he hold a management position for more than 10 years. In 1976 Dieter Schmoeckel was appointed as a full Professor at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Dieter Schmoeckel was the director of the Institute for Production Engineering and Forming Machines for more than 20 years. His scientific work covered a broad spectrum of technologies, ranging from rotary swaging to cutting, roll forming and hydroforming. Moreover, he made valuable contributions to important topics such as manufacturing flexibility and tribology. His expert knowledge as well as his ability to think ahead led to various national and international memberships, such as the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Umformtechnik (AGU), the German Academic Society for Production Engineering (WGP), CIRP and the International Cold Forging Group (ICFG).
